Industrial CAD Design Knowledge

Nowadays it’s very difficult to get a job in the design engineering of the mechanical and civil domain. Every industry want experienced candidates under a package of fresher, So industrial CAD design knowledge is must required for fresher.

Why industries don’t hire fresher?

If we will study deeply then found that fresher have not knowledge of industrial design and its process. So it’s difficult to guide fresher because they don’t want to invest money and time on fresher.

How fresher can also get a job in Design Engineering?

If fresher can also get all those skills and knowledge or Industrial CAD Design Knowledge just like an experienced professional then it will be an advantage for industry and fresher both of them.

So this article will help you to learn about Industrial CAD Design Knowledge in detail,

1. Types of design Work in Industry

There are two types of professional design work in industries:

a. Design Modification Process

In this design process, the work received from another industry and it is redesign as per current company norms and their production process. A few steps follow in modification:

  • Input Drawing Study
  • Document Modification
  • Design
  • Simulation (if required)
  • Drafting
b. Research Design & Development Process

In this process, the new product design is developed and actual design work happens in this process. Few steps follow in research and design:

  • Concept study
  • Design Document
  • Design (2D/3D)
  • Simulation
  • Optimization
  • Prototype Manufacturing
  • Live Testing
  • Redesign
  • Drafting

2. Standard Design and Material Codes

Selection of design symbols, material codes, and drafting sign based on standard codes, some standard codes are listed below:

AISI: American Iron and Steel Institute

The alloy steels and carbon steels are designated with specific grades by using a four-digit AISI and SAE numerical index system. The system is to based on the chemical compositions of the steels and alloys.
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) designates SAE steel grades. The AISI originally started a very equal system. Over time they used the same numbers to refer to the same alloy, but the AISI system used a letter prefix to denote the steelmaking process.

Example of AISI/SAE No. 1020

  • the first digit indicates that this is plain carbon steel.
  • the second digit indicates there are no alloying elements
  • the last two digits indicate that the steel contains approximately 0.20 percent carbon

Example of AISI/SAE No. 4340

  • the first two digits indicate a Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum alloy steel
  • the last two digits indicate carbon content roughly 0.4 percent
SAE designation Type
1xxx Carbon steels
2xxx Nickel steels
3xxx Nickel-chromium steels
4xxx Molybdenum steels
5xxx Chromium steels
6xxx Chromium-vanadium steels
7xxx Tungsten steels
8xxx Nickel-chromium-vanadium steels
9xxx Silicon-manganese steels

ASME: American Society of Mechanical Engineers

ASME is a non-profit organization that deals with standard engineering norms. ASME also serves as the leading international developer of standards and codes used to regulate the mechanical engineering industry.
ASME is also used for the development and construction of boilers and pressure vessels utilized in a variety of industries.

The above image is an example of EN8/ EN19 standard material composition, but the mechanical properties are also important for material selection.
Some standard material: MS: IS2062, EN8, EN9, SS304, SS301.
Important points need to a selection of standard material:

  • Grade: (EN8/EN9/ SS304 etc)
  • Composition: (Fe, Cu, Si, C, Mn, Mg, etc)
  • Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength, compressive strength, yield strength, hardness, etc.

3. Quality Control and Standards

It is very important for every professional designer is that quality of design and products. But quality control will not happen without quality standards.
Steps of quality control are below:

  • Control quality of raw material
  • Determination of quality standards
  • Control over the design process
  • Control over the production process
  • Inspection of machinery equipment

Six sigma and Kizen concepts are also the quality control process which plays a big role in quality improvement and this knowledge is very important for the designer also.
Quality Standards:   ASQ (American society for quality) plays a vital role in the development of international standards. The most popular standards are ISO 9001ISO 19011ISO 26000, and ISO 14001.

4. Production Process

A professional design should also knowledge of important production methods which is mostly used in industries.
A few important productions process are below:

Machining:

It is an excessive material removal process from the object and it involves a cutting tool, abrasive wheel, and disc, etc. Different types of machining processes are turning, drilling, boring, reaming, milling, grinding, sawing, etc.

Casting:

It is the process of converting liquid motel metal into a solid defined shape product. After hardening, the workpiece is taken out from the form to go through different completing medicines or for use as the last item.
Projecting strategies are ordinarily used to make many-sided strong and empty shapes, and cast items are found in a wide scope of uses, including car segments, aviation parts, and so on.
Types: Sand casting, investment casting, die casting, plaster, and centrifugal casting.

Forging is a process to convert raw material into the desired shape by applying external compressive or longitudinal force. Since its causes in the fruitful sickle, producing has encountered noteworthy changes, bringing about a more proficient, quicker, and more sturdy cycle.
This is on the grounds that today, fashioning is most usually performed with the utilization of producing presses or pounding instruments that are controlled by power, hydrodynamics, or packed air.
Different types of forging: hot forging, cold forging, open die & closed die forging, press forging.

Welding:

Welding is the process of joining two similar or dissimilar metal using filler material.
There are more than 30 kinds of welding measures, from basic oxy-fuel to all the more cutting edge laser bar welding. Understanding the contrasts between these welding measures is significant for picking the correct one for the current task. In this post, we’ll cover the 6 fundamental sorts of welding measures.
Types: TIG. MIG, gas welding, EBW, plasma welding, electric are welding, etc.

Additive Manufacturing

Advance types of the manufacturing process are included in this and these are used for large production within a limited time.

5. Market Analysis

If a professional designer is working or a new product then he should also need to understand the market which is related to this product. Few steps for market analysis are given below:

  • Industry overview
  • Define your target market
  • Competiton
  • Pricing and forecast

Hello sir i hope you are doing good
Sir materials code , material standard and materials grade men kya difference hota hai aur yah kis tarah se alag alag country men same name se jane jate hen ya alag code se jane jate hen please sir is bare men ek details vedio banayenge.
Aur materials ki chemical testing kaise aur kis kis base pr ki jati hai wo batayen kyo ki maine dekha hai ki materials ki testing kewal kuchh cheejon ka hi pata lagane ke liye ki jati jabki usme aur bhi content hote hen aur testing men materials same dikha diya jata hai kewal kuchh chiejon ke pata lagate hi.
In dono ke bare men batane ka kast karen
